Mother Teresa & The Sinners welcome new addition Eric Carey...

Mother Teresa & The Sinners are Proud to announce the addition of the talented Eric Carey behind the drum kit. Here's a little background on Eric(courtesy of Eric's other project, The Penetrators Groove Band): Eric began playing drums on the recommendation of his third grade teacher. Diligent in his practice, he went on to perform with the Stockton Symphony before leaving elementary school. Drawing inspiration from the drummer of a local Stockton rock band, Traxx, Eric began to experiment with the stylistic expression of the rock genre early on. Under the auspices of Tim Turner, Jazz director at Morehouse College, he developed a love for jazz and a deeper knowledge of music itself. After viewing a concert featuring the accomplished Turkish drummer Emrah Kotan, Eric began a study of Latin music. He soon adopted the “Left-foot-clave” style of play made popular by his musical hero Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez. But it is his fusion of these styles that defines his diverse approach of music and his distinct sound. His collegiate career afforded him the opportunity to share the stage with Ray Charles, Carnegie Hall Jazz Band Leader Jon Faddis and Bill Cosby among others. Eric went on to play for The NFL Superbowl’s Bart Starr Awards, appeared on Fox 5’s Good Day Atlanta, as well as touring in Amsterdam, Germany, Belgium and the Bahamas. You can hear him on Borders® “Jazz You Must Own,” Volume 2.
